What do you want to know?
Does the COBB run off gas or charcoal?
We offer two gas models — the COBB Gas and COBB Black Gas — and one charcoal model, the COBB Air.
What kind of gas does the COBB Gas run off of?
The COBB Gas uses screw-in disposable butane/propane canisters (EN417 fitting), like those used in Jetboil stoves. A 450g canister lasts up to 8 hours on low or 4 hours on high. It can be removed between uses. The COBB Grill cannot be connected to an LPG bottle.
How big is the COBB and how many people can it feed?
The COBB can cook for up to 5 people. It is capable of cooking a 3kg roast, and the wok can handle a serious amount of food. The COBB can cook up some big feasts despite its convenient travel size. The inner sleeve base can have veggies & sides cooking inside whilst grilling on top, creating a multi-layered cooking system. The cooking surface size of our standard accessories is 33cm in diameter.
How hot does it get?
With the Dome cover on, the COBB Grill reaches a temperature of up to 230°C – just like your home kitchen oven.
What is the difference between the silver COBB's & the black COBB?
Both grills offer the same functionality & performance. The key difference is the base material.
Silver Stainless steel base – ideal for boats and salty environments.
Black Powder coated steel base – perfect for camping, beach trips, and general use.
Can I use normal charcoal, or do I have to use the Cobblestones?
Though hard to beat the power and efficiency of our coconut-based Cobblestones, the charcoal COBB’s can be fueled by normal charcoal. If not using the Cobblestones, we recommend using charcoal briquettes. Additionally there is the option of a larger Fire Basket, which will hold more briquettes than the standard fire basket which comes with any charcoal COBB.
DO NOT overfill the fire basket or put fuel in the moat. This will cause a fire and damage your COBB.
How do I light the Cobblestone?
Place the CobbleStone in the fire basket and light it from underneath using a jet lighter, focusing on one spot. You can also place a fire starter under the basket. It self-ignites after about 30 seconds of flame contact and takes 3 minutes to fully light and burn off the accelerant. Wait until it stops smoking before cooking. One CobbleStone lasts up to 3 hours and can't be reused once lit. For shorter cooks, break it in half.
How can I smoke food on the COBB?
Yes! For charcoal models, sprinkle wet smoking chips directly on the coals. For gas models, place chips or sawdust in a small stainless steel bowl on the heat source. Use the Griddle+ with the Roast Rack to keep food off direct heat, then cover with the Dome lid to trap the smoke.
How do I clean the COBB?
Yes! Grease drips into the inner sleeve, which is easily removable and washable. For even easier cleanup, use our Disposable Inner Sleeves. Most parts — including the dome, grill grid, fire basket, steel bowl, and accessories (except the pizza stone) — are dishwasher safe. The base isn’t dishwasher safe but wipes clean with a damp, soapy cloth.
Can all the COBB accessories fit in the carry bag with the COBB?
YES! There is a specific way to pack it all together so that all accessories and your COBB can pack into the carry bag, even the Rotisserie! The Dome-extensions are designed to slide on top of the COBB dome cover, whilst all other accessories can be placed inside the COBB.
